Indiana University – Bloomington is a residential academic and research campus with more than 15,600,000 square feet of space serving more than 41,000 students and 7,500 faculty and staff. In July of 2010, 8760 Engineering was hired to prepare an Integrated Energy Master Plan for the campus. The Energy Master Plan was integrated with the Campus Master Plan and the Campus Sustainability Report to meet the sustainability goals of the campus.
The main objective is to achieve a 20% reduction in GHG emissions by 2017, a 50% reduction by 2027, and carbon neutrality by 2047. The overall goal of the work was to position the campus as a model of sustainable energy management and the effective use of life-cycle cost economics to ultimately achieve the goals of the Campus Sustainability Report.
