In 2011, the city of Eureka (located in western St. Louis County, Missouri) embarked on the construction of a community recreation center designed to provide a multi-use gymnasium, cardio and strength fitness space, meeting / conference space, food preparation kitchen and an outdoor pool. In total the building area is approximately 30,000 sf.
The heating and air conditioning systems for the building include one variable air volume rooftop air handling unit connected to variable volume boxes with hot water reheat for the main building, and a separate variable volume, single zone rooftop unit for the multi-use gymnasium. For heating, a gas fired condensing boiler with variable flow heating water system is provided to heat the building. All building mechanical systems are controlled by a web-enabled building automation system. Electrically, the building includes high efficiency lighting and audio/visual systems.
8760’s role on this project included initial planning, design and construction administration services for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems of the building.
